Yesterday (1/15) in the White House, Nobel Peace Laureate Maria Corina Machado gifted her actual Nobel medal to our POTUS.
Note that Trump positioned the photo with her presentation below the painting of George Washington in the Oval Office. This was part of the genius move of Machado’s gift. She had recalled an article in Venezuela’s most widely read news site El Nacional dated November 4, 2024: El Medallón de Washington como Obsequio a Simón Bolívar – The Washington Medal as a Gift to Simon Bolivar.
Machado told Trump that in 1825, Marquis de Lafayette, the heroic French General who helped Washington win America’s Independence at Yorktown, gifted a medal portrait of George Washington from Washington’s family to the founder of Venezuela, Simon Bolivar, hailed as “the Washington of Latin America.” She then explained to him:
“Bolivar kept that medal for the rest of his life. And now, after 200 years of history, the people of Bolivar are giving back to the heir of Washington a medal, in this case the Nobel Peace Prize, as a recognition for your unique commitment to our freedom.”
This is sheer and pure diplomatic genius – and further, Machado knew full well how much Trump would relish the moment as an ultimate snub of the TDS-infected Norwegian Peace Prize Committee, which huffed on Jan 9:
“The Norwegian Nobel Committee and the Norwegian Nobel Institute receive a number of requests for comments regarding the permanence of a Nobel Peace Prize laureate’s status. The facts are clear and well established. Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others. The decision is final and stands for all time.”
This is so Schadenfreudelicious. Every TDS-infected loon on the planet is eating themselves alive in bitterness over Machado’s masterstroke. Thanks, Maria!

And now, as Paul Harvey would say, here’s the Rest of the Story. On the face of it, the above Trump post ereyesterday (1/14) is disgraceful.
Since the US Government does not recognize the Maduro regime as legitimate, Maduro’s vice-president cannot legitimately be Venezuela’s “Interim President.” In November 2024, Biden’s SecState Blinken announced: U.S. Recognizes Venezuela’s Opposition Candidate Edmundo González As President-Elect.
Repeatedly, SecState Rubio has reaffirmed this – such as during a press conference last November:
Delcy Rodriguez is a hardcore Hate America Communist. Yesterday (1/15) as Trump was meeting with Machado, she gave a speech to the Venezuelan National Assembly and her invited guests, Chinese and Russian ambassadors to Caracas, Lan Hu and Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov.
She told them: “There is a stain on relations between Venezuela and the United States… Venezuela is being threatened, all of Venezuela is being threatened, and that is why I call for national unity, so that with sovereignty at the forefront, we can fight the diplomatic battle.”
Believe it or not, just before this speech yesterday (1/15),this happened: CIA Director John Ratcliffe Meets With Venezuela’s Interim President Delcy Rodríguez In Caracas. Why? In order to “deliver the message that the United States looks forward to an improved working relationship” with her. You can’t make this up.
As my long-time friend Elliot Abrams – whom I’ve known since he was on Reagan’s National Security Council – says: “The president is relying on the current regime to guide a transition to a Venezuela that is a free, democratic, prosperous, capitalist U.S. ally. That’s absurd.”
Guaranteed, this is not going to end well. At some point, Trump has to admit he recognizes Gonzalez as Venezuela’s legitimate elected president. For starters, someone in the White House Press Pool has to pin down Karoline Leavitt into admitting it, and force an answer to the contradiction of current policy.
At some point, there has to be a legitimate free and fair election that will have to be internationally administered with military force, because Chavista Communists will not permit an election without being forced to at gunpoint.
Oh, and all the talk about Cuba being next? Next after what, with Chavista Venezuela still in full power? Nope, Cuba Libre is not on the horizon.

Yes, there is a however to the pessimism above. It’s the Other Golden Rule. You know what that is: He who has the gold makes the rules.

If you run a dictatorship with a one-trick pony for an economy, you only stay in power by doing what whoever controls the pony’s proceeds says. And that whoever is PDJT.
So this is going to be an interesting dance between the CIA and SEBIN.
The Servicio Bolivariano de Inteligencia Nacional, SEBIN (Bolivarian National Intelligence Service), is the Chavista Regime’s secret police that controls the country. And guess who is in charge of it? Yep, little Miss Chavista herself, Delcy Rodriguez. So Ratcliffe was meeting his Caracas counterpart, as well he knew.

FYI, state governors are not allowed by federal law to appoint House vacancies – Senate yes, House no. Those 4 vacancies will be held fairly soon (Feb-Mar). The White House better be fully primed to challenge any Dem vote rigging.

Stephen is right, it’s not democracy – it’s kritocracy: rule by unelected judges. What’s the solution to kritocracy? Judicial lustration.
Lustration is a form of social or political purification. Judicial lustration is the removal from office of corrupt judges. Grokipedia describes how it was used to rid a post-Communist government of corrupt judges in Eastern Europe. We’d have to be creative on how to implement it in the US, beyond impeachment requiring an impossible 2/3 Senate vote.
One way to start would be for the Trump DOJ to declare a federal judge’s ruling null and void if it went beyond his own jurisdiction, per SCOTUS ruling that lower court ruling cannot be applied nation-wide.
But at least we have a word for the solution – lustration – which can bring focus on how to bring it about. TTPers can put their thinking caps on and let us know in Comments.
